Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Pingoo processes and why.

Who we are

Pingoo is a messaging service for private and group conversations, GIF messages, reactions, Pulse location sharing, and audio calls.

Questions about this policy can be sent to support@pingoo.one.

Data we process

  • Account and profile: email address, username, display name, password hash, and optional profile details such as an avatar, biography, and date of birth.
  • Communications: rooms, messages, GIF metadata, replies, edits, reactions, delivery and read status, and invitation relationships.
  • Pulse location: precise location updates while you actively share a Pulse, including background updates needed to keep that session working.
  • Calls: participants, room identifiers, call state, timing, and technical media status. Pingoo does not record call audio.
  • Device and service data: device identifiers, push tokens, presence and last-seen status, IP address, request and delivery diagnostics, and application version.

How we use data

  • Provide accounts, rooms, messaging, notifications, Pulse, and calls.
  • Synchronize conversations and recover after reconnects or device changes.
  • Protect accounts, prevent abuse, and investigate delivery or reliability problems.
  • Respond to support and account deletion requests.

Pingoo does not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

Who receives data

Messages, reactions, profile information, call state, and active Pulse updates are shared with the people and rooms you choose.

We use infrastructure providers for hosting and email, Firebase and Apple for push delivery, LiveKit-based infrastructure for calls, and KLIPY for GIF search. GIF search queries are sent to KLIPY through the Pingoo server. These providers process only the data needed to provide their service.

We may disclose data when required by law or when necessary to protect users, the service, or the public.

Retention and account deletion

We keep account and conversation data while your account is active and retain limited operational records only as needed for service reliability, security, and legal obligations.

When you delete your account, access is revoked and your profile, credentials, tokens, settings, reactions, receipts, pending requests, and active invitations are removed or irreversibly anonymized. Active Pulse sessions and calls are ended.

Messages you already sent, including their content, time, order, replies, and GIF metadata, remain in other participants' chat history under an anonymized Deleted account identity.

Your choices and security

You can update profile information, control notification settings, stop Pulse sharing, and delete your account from the application settings. Device permission settings control notifications, microphone access, and location access.

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data, but no networked service can guarantee absolute security.
